Pros and cons of our modern times.

Being an unsigned artist or an indie label can be much more fun today than a few years back because of all the online tools at your fingertips. However, for exactly the same reasons the sheer volume of available music is now so huge that the challenge of being heard and seen is perhaps bigger than ever before.

Whats in it for me?

The goal here is to expose a huge number of people to as much of your music as possible and make them listen to it in a concentrated state of mind.  At the same time we’ll obviously be constantly reminding them to buy your music.

Watch this video before reading the rest:

Making the gamer listen properly

The gamer is exposed to clip after clip and asked to evaluate each one.  Depending on how far the user’s evaluation is from the average ranking of that track, a Hit-Spotting rank is calculated for him/her. Songs sink or rise on the charts, depending on their average ranking and given a value in virtual dollars depending on chart position.  The gamer is rewarded virtual dollars for each ranking he performs.

Trading on the “Wall street of Songs”

This virtual cash earned by the gamer during song ranking can then be used to “buy” songs for his Song Portfolio.  If the gamer has purchased songs that rise on the charts, he can choose to sell them and make a profit. Not your ACTUAL songs but the gamers “virtual” song stocks.
By playing this market the gamer can rise in levels all the way from Insignificant Nobody to Master of the Universe. To do this successfully gamers have to keep returning to peruse charts, listen to more music and watch over their portfolio of song stocks.

Can I use Hit or Not to promote my songs?

The answer to that one is A BIG YES! Go to the game and find your tracks by using the search function in the “CHARTS” once you find your track it will be all set to go complete with share, sign, rank, send, promo and mp3 buttons. This means you can login once a day and send out  your songs to your fans/friends and ask them to rate it for you. They can then do the same to their friends creating a flow of ratings for that specific track. Remember that a gamer can only rate a track once, so no point in spamming your friends with the same track over and over again. Once should be enough to start the ball rolling for you in any case. On top of this you can post your track on your wall so your friends see and hear it there.

songtrader_smallCharts and data with meaning

If we get even only a few hundred thousand gamers involved in this game the Hit Or Not charts will take on real meaning to a lot of the people who’s attention you need to grab. The managers and labels who currently only have your word for how great you are will be very interested indeed if you chart in a place where thousands have had an opinion. As soon as we can we will make your ranking data part of your dashboard so you can use it to convince others. Imagine telling a label that thirty thousand people rated your song with a positive opinion? And knowing the gender balance of the raters is information not traditionally available to labels or management.

What’s in it for the gamer?

The gamers get to climb a music industry career ladder and become virtual media tycoons by using their musical taste. Gamers do this by listening to music, ranking it and finally by investing virtual cash in the songs they believe will do well on the Hit or Not Charts. Links to buy the songs as actual mp3 downloads are all over the game.

Synergy (How things can be larger than the sum of their parts)

Luckily YOU are a bizmo artist and you have about ten thousand other artists ready to help each other succeed in breaking the glass ceiling we all work so hard to crack. Under normal circumstances you would be competing for the same audience, but this time the audience your fellow artists attract will also be benefiting you. That’s a pretty radical change of dynamic.

A unique collaborative marketing effort where you really DO make all the difference.

No one has ever dared to try something like this before.  That is why it is so exiting. The potential outreach and audience size for this game is absolutely mind blowing. But the success or failure of this effort lies largely in your hands.

IF every bizmo artist does his or her part to promote the game we should have a fair chance of reaching what in viral terms is called critical mass. (The point where game growth becomes self-sustaining)—————————————————————————————-

1. JOIN the game. You have to have a Facebook profile to do so, but it seems like most of you have that already. Here is the link  http://apps.facebook.com/hitornot/

2. INVITE as many of your friends as you possibly can and urge them to invite their friends.

3. PLAY the game as much as you have time to.  This will create wall posts reminding your friends to play or to keep playing. It will also promote your music.
